Seascape from the 'Birkdale'

BHC0166

Seascape from the 'Birkdale' Long Caption: A sketch from the 'Birkdale' showing a calm sea. Everett has created his desired effect using form and colour. The sun is high in the sky and throws strong reflections over the surface of the water in thick impasto coloured paint. The dark sea contrasts with the paler lilac hues in the sky. Everett joined the barque, 'Birkdale', and sailed from Bristol to Sabine Pass, Texas, April to June 1920.
