Revolver Long Caption: Revolver owned by Commodore E. T. Britten (1876-1936). Twin composite plaques are applied to each side of the butt to form a grip. Solid steel frame made in one with the barrel. Cylinder chambered for six rounds. Double action. The barrel is rifled and fitted with foresight. The calibre is 0.32in. The serial number '34773' is stamped on this revolver. Sir Edgar Theophilus Britten was born in 1874 and started his career in sailing ships in 1892. He joined Cunard in 1901 and was commissioned in the RNR in 1903. He commanded both the 'Berengaria' and the 'Queen Mary'.
