Sea Service pistol Long Caption: Sea Service pistol. The pistol has a walnut stock which is fully stocked to the muzzle. The pistol is fitted with a brass trigger guard and a brass buttcap. A single brass ramrod pipe is fitted forward of the fore-end into which the wooden ramrod with a brass tip is fitted. There is a steel trigger with a slight backward curl. A steel belt hook is fitted at the side of the stock. The pistol has a flintlock sidelock. The barrel is circular and smoothbore. The calibre is 0.56in. The lockplate is engraved with the inscription 'TOWER Crown' over the letters 'GR'. The barrel is stamped with a crown over the letters 'GR' which in turn are over an anchor and a crown over crossed sceptres and also the initials 'MB'. The stock bears the inscription 'II P' and is decorated with a crown over an arrow which in turn is over the date '1806'.
