Earthenware dish Long Caption: Earthenware dish, transfer-printed in blue with a scalloped rim, on a raised foot. The foot is hollow and fluted. In the centre a scene showing Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) on one knee on the deck of the 'Victory' supported by two seamen, having just been fatally wounded. The dish has a border of flowers and various trophies including a royal crown and archbishop's mitre. On the outside are shown other historical scenes of an enthroned king and Charles I attempting to arrest five members of Parliament, repeated twice. Printed underneath 'BRITISH HISTORY/DEATH OF LORD NELSON/JONES & SON' flanked by figures representing History and Britannia.
