Mug with a portrait of Admiral Sir George Brydges Rodney (1719-1792) Long Caption: A mug, the body coloured ochre with green reeded bands at the top and bottom. It has applied reliefs with standing figures, banners behind them inscribed 'LORD HOOD' and 'LORD RODNEY'. A central oval medallion shows a ship under sail inscribed 'VILLA DE PARIS' (sic) suspended by a ribbon bow. All the reliefs are splashed with green. It commemorates Admiral Sir George Brydges Rodney (1719-1792) and Admiral Sir Samuel Hood (1724-1816). The 'Ville de Paris' was captured during Rodney's victory at the battle of the Saints in 1782.
