Obverse: Bust of the captain in plain clothes (three-quarter left). Reverse: An inscribed scroll resting against an anchor, a star above. Captain Prat commanded the 'Esmeralda', a Chilian vessel, in the war with Peru. The inscription is taken from his speech to the crew before the battle. He himself was killed.
