Telescope barrel Long Caption: These two parts of a telescope are relics of Sir John Franklin's last expedition in search of the North-West Passage, 1845-48. The brass barrel, which is severely crushed, has some remaining opieces of cord and leather at the eyepiece end. There would have been a draw tube, but this is now missing.
