Port bow view of an unidentified brig dried out off the quayside, possibly at Swansea Long Caption: A salted paper print. A view looking from the shore, fine off the port bow, of an unidentified brig dried out close a quay, possibly at Swansea. The brig has a white male bust figurehead. A small sailing vessel, with most of its rig removed is dried out on the shore in front of the port bow and a small ship's boat is in the foreground. The bottom left corner has been torn off. Reverse has been annotated in pencil by Admiral Ballard in 1934: 'Head & Bows of the 'Ellen Simpson' Barque. Henneman's Sun Picture No. 15'. Despite being identified as the Ellen Simson/Ellen Simpson, both ships of that name were registered as barques. This is an original salted paper print of the original calotype negative P13CAL.
