'Suevic' (1899) bow section on the rocks after being split from the rest of the hull Long Caption: The severed bow section of the passenger liner 'Suevic' (1899) on Maenheere (Menhir) Rock off the Lizard Point. The photograph was taken from a boat looking toward the bridge. After running aground on 17 March 1907, all four hundred and fifty-six passengers and crew were rescued without loss of life. The ship was later blown into two parts and the stern towed to Southampton, where a new bow section, built at Harland & Wolff, was fitted.
