Royal National Lifeboat Institution silver medal Long Caption: Royal National Lifeboat Institution silver medal awarded to James Fitzjames for saving a Custom House Officer from drowning at Liverpool. Commander James Fitzjames commanded HMS 'Erebus' during Sir John Franklin's last expedition of 1845. Obverse of medal depicts head of George IV with three men in a boat pulling a fourth out of the water depicted on reverse. Inscribed on edge of medal: 'Mr James Fitzjames, R.N. voted 11 Feb 1835.'
