'Shamrock III', plating detailLong Caption:Scale: 1:24. Design plating model of the racing yacht 'Shamrock III'. These models were used to 'joggle' the steel plates in relation to the frames before the construction of the full size vessel. Made from wood in the ‘bread and butter’ fashion, it is then coated with a highly finished and smooth paint to enable the drawing in ink of the complex shapes and curves in the three-dimensional form. As well as the plates themselves, it is also annotated with measurements and names of the key components.Credit line:The Museum has not yet identified the copyright holder and would welcome any information to help us update our records.
