Full hull model, whaler, starboard broadside

F2850-1

Full hull model, whaler, starboard broadside Long Caption: A full hull model of a mid-19th century whaleboat. Built at a scale of approximately 1:12, it is complete with three oars (one missing) mounted in rollocks, a boat hook and rudder with yoke steering at the stern. The design of this boat is based on the types carried on board the whaling ships of the mid 19th century onwards and would have been used primarily for carrying personnel and provisions from ship to shore rather than for fishing.
