House flag, Scottish Tanker Co. Ltd Long Caption: The house flag of Scottish Tanker Co. Ltd, London. A pale blue rectangular flag with a white saltire. In the centre is a white diamond with a red rampant lion. The flag is made of a wool and synthetic fibre bunting. It has a cotton hoist and is machine sewn. The lion on the flag is printed. A rope and toggle is attached. Scottish Tankers Ltd. was formed in 1951 by the British shipping company Cayzer, Irvine and Company, to take part in the growing oil tanker market. Its first two ships were the Scottish Lion and the Scottish Eagle. In 1956, Scottish Tankers became part of British and Commonwealth Shipping Ltd, still under the control of Cayzer, Irvine and Company. In 1962, after the termination of the Norwegian whaling industry, two whaling ships from the Hector Whaling Company were transferred into the Scottish Tankers fleet.
