Equinoctial dial Long Caption: Universal equinoctial dial for latitudes 0˚-90˚ north. Hinged to the north side of the dial-plate is a silvered hour-circle whose inner rim is enamelled in black and numbered [VI]-XII, I-[VI]. A brass strut attached along the VI-VI line supports a rectangular brass rod gnomon. The latitude arc is silvered and hinged to the east side of the dial-plate, engraved on the outside only, and divided from the tip [0]-[90]. The compass is silvered and set into the base-plate.
