Universal equinoctial ring dial Long Caption: Universal equinoctial ring dial for all latitudes. Standard dial (see related terms) except for the following details: the dial has a latitude scale, a scale for determining solar altitude, a date scale and a declination scale, but no zodiac scale. On both the obverse side and the inner rim of the equinoctial ring are hour scales and the equinoxes are marked at 9 ½ March and 12 ½ September. There is a star engraved on the slider rivet of the gnomon.
