F1307-2

Universal equinoctial ring dial, reverse side Long Caption: Universal equinoctial ring dial for all latitudes. A suspension ring pierces the swivel ball stem, attached to a bracket, which moves in the grooved outer rim of the meridian ring. 'S' and 'N' are marked either side of the zero line on the latitude scale. On the equinoctial ring, there is an hour scale on the obverse side and also on the inner rim. There is a date scale, a declination scale and the equinoxes are marked at 20 March and 24 September. This dial was probably not made by Jones, but was sold in his shop under his name: it is signed 'Jones Holburn London'.
