Obverse of Gunter quadrant Long Caption: This is a horary quadrant marked with Gunter scales and a surveyor's shadow square in the top third. It is signed 'I.P. fecit Oxo' and is the work of the late 17th century Oxford instrument maker John Prujean. It has a rotating rojas dial marked with constellations and an alidade, or rule, on the reverse. Accessories including the cord, plumb and bead have been removed since 1994.
