Greenwich (Greenwich Hospital and River Thames) Long Caption: Plate 47 from George Cooke's 'Views in London and its Vicinity', completed in 1834, looking broadly west across the Greenwich Hospital frontage from off the George Tavern (replaced in 1837 by the Trafalgar Tavern). This is not visible, as it is for example in George Chambers' 1835 oil view from almost exactly the same point (BHC1823). The crane on the wharf at the east end of the Five Foot Walk is visible but in an earlier form than that shown by both Chambers and a drawing of 1827 by E. W. Cooke (the engraver's son) now in the Guildhall Collection, London (cat. no. p5374544).
