Greenwich Hospital. Exterior view of the chapel colonnade

PY3250

Greenwich Hospital. Exterior view of the chapel colonnade Long Caption: A watercolour sketch over pencil outline from the south corner of the King Charles Court looking towards the Chapel entrance under the dome of the Queen Mary Court, with figures of Greenwich Pensioners and a few dark-clad women (nurses or wives) on the steps to the Upper Grand Square, on what appears to be a sunny afternoon. The expressions of the figures, and the scale and general atmosphere, rather than the loose drawing of the architecture, comprise the main qualities of the exercise.
