'Hermione'; warship; frigate Long Caption: Scale: Unknown. A model of the French warship 'Hermione' made in plaster with wood, metal, paper, and cotton fittings, which has been realistically painted. The model depicts the vessel at 13.40 on 21 October 1805 at the height of the Battle of Trafalgar. The model is undamaged. The ship is three masted, ship rigged on all three masts with set sails. There is dark grey cotton wool on the deck, indicating smoke, which may not be connected to the model. The hull is painted black with white stripes along the gun decks, white on the deck, and black on the deck fittings. There is a French tricolour flag flying from the peak of the gaff and a French pennant flying from the top of the foremast. On a paper label: '59'.
