Equipment model; Dockyard truck model Long Caption: Scale: Unknown. A model of a motorised land truck (circa 1860), for transporting boilers and other heavy equipment in dockyards. The model is made largely in wood which is stained and varnished in a uniform mid-brown colour. The bed of the truck is a wooden frame with five longitudinal timber pieces and seven lateral cross pieces connected by dado joints. The timbers are arranged both longitudinally and laterally so that there is a pair close together at each end, and on each side of the bed. The truck is equipped with two sets of four wheels. One set of four wheels is screwed to the underside of the bed at each of its four corners, and are fixed in a lateral position. The second set of four wheels is fixed to the frame by iron bands adjacent to the first set, and are fixed in a longitudinal position, at right-angles to the first set. On the upper face of the central lateral timber a paper label is applied marked '6'.
