Sectional model; Stern model; Waterline model Long Caption: Scale: 1:24. A sectional model depicting the elliptical stern of HMS 'Inconstant' (1836), a 5th rate 36-gun warship. The model has been made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The exterior of the hull and gallery parts are painted black, with an off-white band along the lower gun deck and gilded highlights. Six gun ports are shown, two on each side on each of the two gun decks, and two at the stern, and the inner faces of the gun ports have been painted red. In the stern gallery two glazed windows are shown with nine lights in each and a translucent material has been used to simulate the glazing. Alternating with the two fixed windows, three open windows are shown. Only the top-most part of the rudder is depicted. The interior of the model has been painted yellow with green above and the gun deck has been depicted in natural wood.
