Full hull model Long Caption: Scale: 1:24. A full hull model of an eight-oared whaleboat made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull has been carved from the solid and is complete with the floors and steamed frames. The hull is painted black with a light blue wash strake, narrow yellow line above and black gunwales. Fittings and equipment include seven thwarts, two of which are fitted to take a mast and sail. In the stern sheets there is a backboard whilst along the gunwales, ivory has been used to show the metal fittings such as the beds for the rowlocks and the cappings at the bow and stern. The model is mounted on a pair of turned wooden pillar supports and displayed on a rectangular mahogany baseboard with rounded edges and bun feet.
