A view on the Maas

PW5546

A view on the Maas Long Caption: Bendorp was a painter, etcher and publisher who lived most of his life in Dordrecht, but spent a few years in Rotterdam where he worked as a glassblower. There he became acquainted with the artists Hendrik Kobell and Dirk Langendijk. He turned increasingly to art and made numerous prints, including some after designs by other artists. His own prints consist mainly of views of Rotterdam and Dordrecht, as well as sea battles. Like Groenewegen he was influenced by 17th century artists, such as Ludolf Backhuysen and Albert Cuyp.
