Body plan of 'Australia' (1826)

J8713

Body plan of 'Australia' (1826) Long Caption: Scale 1:48. A plan showing the body with sternboard, sheer lines with inboard detail and longitudinal half-breadth of the 'Australia' (1826), a three-masted merchant barque of about 373 tons burden and pierced for at least 12 guns. There is a Lloyds First Survey Report in the Lloyds Survey collections (item LON1967) that confirms the tonnage and dimensions and gives the builder as Adams of Buckler's Hard. This is probably significant, for while no Lloyds material appears to exist for the other vessels represented in the Longstaff collection, the common denominator for most of them is the fact that the ships were built at Adams' yard.
