Equipment model; Engine model Long Caption: Scale: 1:12. A working model of a two cylinder compound steam engine for use on a launch, as used from the late nineteenth century onwards. The whole model is made entirely of brass and steel either turned on a lathe or worked by hand. The cylinder block, supports, piston rods and valves, crankshaft, nuts and flywheel are made from steel. The crankshaft bed, offset valve guides, flanges, water and steam safety valves are all brass. The cylinder jacket is made from steel which has been blued. There is a large copper pipe bolted to either side of the cylinder head block.
