Ordnance model; Mortar model Long Caption: Scale: 1:10. Model of a mortar and bed (circa 1827). The bed comprises a circular gun platform, the central part of which rotates on stone or clay ball bearings, enabling the mortar to fire in any direction. The platform is made from mahogany, painted black, and mounted on three short, turned legs. It has a brass plaque mounted on it inscribed "Presented and made by A Wilson R M A.". The elevating mortar is detachable and is made from a solid turned block of wood, painted black. It is fitted with a tompion. The model has two impressed marks and a painted catalogue number denoting the Royal Military Academy, Museum of Artillery in the Rotunda.
