Anchor - mushroom internal Long Caption: Scale: Unknown. A model of a mushroom anchor, date unknown. The model is made entirely in iron and is pitted and corroded. The shank is circular in section and tapers towards the top where it becomes square in section. A D-ring is attached to the top of the shank that pivots on a round-headed rivet. Towards the bottom of the shank is a skirt with a slanting upper face and horizontal lower face. The base of the anchor is in the form of a four-cornered, convex-bottomed, square head. The head is reinforced on its upper face with four spines that radiate from the base of the shank and sweep to the four corners. On the underside of the head, is painted in white lettering "1898".
