A Launch at Portsmouth

PW2115

A Launch at Portsmouth Long Caption: A rapid sketch made during a launch at Portsmouth Dockyard, probably during the first decade of the 20th century, although it is not clear whether the drawing dates from after the Wyllies' move to Portsmouth in 1906. It demonstrates Wyllie's ability to capture the moment with considerable economy, including the effect of looking into the light. The viewpoint is looking south towards the entrance to Portsmouth harbour with 'Victory' visible in the right distance.
