Cargo vessel Long Caption: Scale: Unknown. A half plating model of the starboard side of a dumb swim-head barge (circa 1957) made entirely in two types of wood marked in black penwork and varnished. The hull is made in mahogany, is flat-bottomed, straight-sides and has a shallow bow and stern. Hull markings include vertical regularly-spaced vertical lines indicating frames and bulkheads, and numerous annotations. The large, triangular rudder, together with its two fixings, has been drawn onto the backboard. The superstructure is depicted in a much lighter wood, positioned amidships with a flat uninterrupted roof. The superstructure markings show portholes and other features. The model is displayed on a rectangular mahogany backboard on which is hand-rendered information pertaining to the vessel and its building.
