Landing Fish at St Ives

PW1989

Landing Fish at St Ives Long Caption: The subject of this late watercolour is fish being landed at St Ives, then a thriving Cornish fishing port. Wyllie also made a drypoint of the subject. The view is into the light and so to suggest the effect of light on the water Wyllie has left areas of paper with little or no watercolour. On the quay on the left is Smeaton's lighthouse constructed in 1830.
