Thomas Seymour, Lord Seymour of Sudeley (circa 1508-1549) Long Caption: A circular miniature in watercolour contained in a circular gilt metal display frame with a suspension ring and a scroll label below, engraved in black letters 'THOMAS LORD SEYMOUR'. The words 'Lord Seymour of Sudley' are also written on the back in pencil. The sitter is shown head and part shoulders, against a plain blue background, turned slightly to his right but facing the viewer. Apart from a little of a white shirt collar he is dressed in black, including bonnet hat with a gold bage supporting a black plume. He has blue eyes, red hair, beard and moustache. Formerly in the Duke of Buccleuch's collection, of which the probably 19th century frame is characteristic, purchased by Sir James Caird through Spink's, 15 April 1941.
