Warship

L0438-001

Warship Long Caption: Scale: 1:12. A section of a ships' side complete with a hinged gun port of an iron fighting vessel. The model is made entirely of iron and is fully working. The exterior of the hull shows the gun port complete with two hinges held in place by bolts at the top end, whilst the lower end has two ring bolts to which rope or chain lanyards would be used to open the port from above. The inboard side of the model illustrates how the gun port is secured shut using a pair of horizontal metal cross-plates, which have been drilled to take four threaded bolts, which are in turn hooked through for ring bolts on the gun port. The four bolts are then released or tightened by large butterfly nuts.
