Sectional model Long Caption: Scale: Unknown. A model of a stern section together with a rudder, largely made in wood, the whole of which is mounted in a pair of figured wooden keel chocks on a polished rectangular moulded mahogany baseboard. The model itself is painted copper below a thin white waterline, with black topsides above, and a natural varnished mahogany with the inboard face painted a dark green. There is abrass removable tiller, which locates on a vertical rod with square head. This is connected to a wooden bladed balanced rudder and is held in place by a large almost circularbrass revolving stop half way down, with the heel located on a metal skeg projecting from the stern post. Stored with the model is its original metal display label which is inscribed "Balanced rudder with strop or guard, Proposed by Captain Broadhead. R.N. 1862."
