Straits of Gibraltar

PW0679

Straits of Gibraltar Long Caption: This watercolour probably dates from the early 1890s and is likely to have been made while Wyllie was on a cruise on board the Orient Line 'Garonne' in 1893. Because some of the crew and passengers died of yellow fever the cruise was extended to the Mediterranean as compensation, giving Wyllie the opportunity to paint this view looking across the Straits of Gibraltar towards the Atlas Mountains.
