Portrait of a Dutch two-decker

PY3851

Portrait of a Dutch two-decker Long Caption: This Dutch two-decker is viewed from just before the starboard beam. It possibly depicts the 'Gideon' (see PAH3883). This is an unsigned portrait of a Dutch two-decker. It is probably a very faint offset, rubbed on the back and thoroughly worked up in rapid but accurate pencil. It has been approximately dated to 1665 by the watermark. The work depicts a quarter-gallery of a type no earlier than 1665.
