'Oakwood' (Br, 1903) Long Caption: Scale: 1:48. A model of the 'Oakwood' made entirely in wood, painted in realistic colours, with plated metal fittings. The hull is painted pink below the waterline and dark grey above. Hull details include two anchors stowed at port and starboard bows, a companion ladder rigged on the starboard broadside, and a single four-bladed propeller. Forecastle details include anchor winch gear, four ventilators, and a windlass. The forward cargo deck has two hatches, both partly open, which are served by a derrick mast between them. The main superstructure is positioned amidships and details include four white painted boats stowed on davits, bridge wings, a pilot house, and a single vertical funnel painted yellow with a black top. There are a further two cargo hatches on the aft cargo deck with a derrick mast between them. Aft deck details include a pair of double ended boats painted white stowed on davits, a secondary wheel, and an ensign staff. On the port and starboard bows: 'Oakwood'. On the stern: 'Oakwood London'. The model is mounted on four turned pillar supports, displayed on a rectangular baseboard, the top of which is covered in velvet and edged with braid. The model is housed in its original display case with matching table.
