Tirpitz' 6.7.45 starboard propeller bracket and shaft Long Caption: The German battleship 'Tirpitz' was completed in 1941. Serving in German waters she was a threat to the British convoys to North Russia. She was attacked several times from the air, damaged by mines laid by midget submarines and was finally capsized by the Royal Air Force on 12 November 1944. Bone's drawing, dated 6 July 1945, was made eight months later when the propeller had been removed. It shows the hole made in her hull through which many men escaped.
