'Lord Danby's Maggot' Long Caption: Scale: 1:48. A plan showing the body plan, sheer lines, and longitudinal half-breadth for an unnamed 66-gun two decker, possibly known as 'Lord Danby's Maggot'. Note the unusual hull shape on the body plan, the use of sweeps between the lower deck gun ports (also showing the lids), and the use of round gun ports for the poop and quarterdeck. On reverse: 'Lord Danby's Maggot. Mr Hilhouse'. This may refer to Peregrine Osborne (bap.1659-1729), Viscount Dumblane, Earl of Danby (1689-1694), Marquess of Carmarthen, later 2nd Duke of Leeds, who was known to design yachts, such as the 'Peregrine Galley' (1700) and the 'Royal Transport' (1695).
