Charlotte de Berry, the female pirate Long Caption: The female pirate Charlotte de Berry boards the English Ship 'Lizard'. Born in England in 1636, de Berry dressed as a man and followed her husband into the navy. She later led a mutiny aboard a ship bound for Africa, and then commanded a pirate ship ranging the African coast for treasure and gold.
