Canvas Long Caption: A relic of Sir John Franklin's last expedition 1845-1848. A triangular piece of canvas found in the grave of Lieutenant John Irving, Irving Bay, King William Island by the Schwatka Search Expedition 1878-1879. The canvas has been stitched round the edges and has three pieces of cord attached to one edge. It was used as a shroud for the body.
