Block Long Caption: A relic of Sir John Franklin's last expedition 1845-1848. An oak block found at Crozier's camp site near Ross Cairn, Point Victory, King William Island on 11 July 1879 by the Schwatka Search Expedition 1878-1879. It was the point where the crews of 'Erebus' and 'Terror' landed after abandoning their ships. The block has the sheave still in place secured by an iron pin.
