Curved bladed dirk Long Caption: Curved bladed dirk. The hilt consists of a gilt lion's-mask pommel, a white fish-skin grip bound with gilt wires and a chain knuckle-guard. The blade is very curved. The black leather scabbard has two gilt lockets, fitted with rings, and gilt chape. The dirk is in a red velvet pouch. The blade is inscribed with 'Made from the Iron Bolts/of the Royal George/Sunk 1782 Recovered 1839'.
