Solid half-basket hilted sword Long Caption: Owned by Lieutenant Ebenezer Wood, Royal Dockyard Battalion. The hilt consists of a solid half-basket guard with raised bars and crown and anchor badge. There is a hinged flap on the inside, a lion's-head pommel with elaborately carved mane extending the full length of the back-piece, and a black fish-skin grip bound with three copper wires. Blade is flat-backed, slightly curved, with a double-edged spear point and etched decoration.
