Orange lustre mug Long Caption: Orange lustre mug, with a moulded foot, and brown-painted pottery frog inside. Decorated on one side with a hand-coloured transfer-print of a barquentine under sail on a green sea inscribed 'The Unfortunate London'. On the other side, the 'Mariner's Arms', a shield charged with a foul anchor and ropework in chief, surmounted by a crest of a ship and supported by two sailors holding Union flags. The 'London', built in 1864, was wrecked in 1865 the Bay of Biscay with the loss of over 300 lives.
