Cutlass Long Caption: Cutlass, the hilt of the cutlass consists of a sheet steel half-basket riveted to a small rectangular shell. The tang button is riveted over a brass nut and washer. The leather grip is bound with three turns of twisted wire. The steel blade is slightly curved and flat with much notched a edge.
