Curved bladed dirk

E1126

Curved bladed dirk Long Caption: Curved bladed dirk, the hilt of the dirk consists of a gilt pommel and back-piece and a chain guard. The lower part of the black ebony/ivory grip is diamond knurled. The very curved steel blade is damascened in blue and gold, and is flat backed. The black leather scabbard has two gilt lockets and rings and chape, which are decorated with threads. It is difficult to date and determine the country of origin of this dirk, it is possible however that it is either Dutch or Danish and probably dates from after 1820.
