Presentation sword, hilt detail Long Caption: Lloyd’s, the London insurance exchange, set up a patriotic fund in 1803. One of its purposes was to present swords to officers who had distinguished themselves in the Napoleonic War. Trafalgar swords such as this one were given to captains who had been present at that battle.
